When the allegation is false

@Kootenay Coyote

I used to have the same mind set as you in the past. Wait until you (or your close one) been falsely alleged, then you will know it is really not fun. You know yourself, and you know you didn't do it. The investigation takes weeks, hopefully not months, and you will find it really hurt your feelings and ruins your reputation.

When the investigation is over, police do not find any evidence to lay a charge and of course you know they never will, but the file remains open and your record remains in the system. You may find your police record was tainted. If the false allegation is about minor, you may have trouble even doing volunteer in your child's activity.

If the allegation is true, the system works just fine. If the allegation is false, and you know you didn't do it, it hurts for a very long time.

Read the JonBenet Ramsey's case. The parents were main suspects on their daughter's murder, but no charge been laid. Not until 12 years later in 2008, the police completely clear them based on the DNA found in their daughter's underwear. What if the police never found the DNA? They will be the suspect until their death. Anyway, the poor mom was only partially cleared before she passed away of ovarian cancer. The mom only completely cleared 2 years after she die.

Jacob's incident at school

He is a sweet boy. Jacob's mom is sick today. He went to her bed and prayed for her, by himself. I brought him to his skating lesson, library and had dinner at Harveys this evening. He insisted he wanted to pray for his mom after I said grace at Harveys. When he got home, he told his mom everything happened in the past 2 hours in an amazing detail. Tonight, after our bedtime bible story time, we talked about today's incident at school. He told me every detail what had happened.

This is the "his said" part:
- The girls said mean words to William.
- William started to tackle the girls.
- Jacob tried to stop the tackling between them, but unsuccessful.
- Jacob mis-heard Ryan that Finya broke the fort, he was running after Finya so that he could tell her that she broke the fort.
- When he saw Jordon went to teacher, he joined the boys again.

I told him that he did the right thing trying to stop the tackling. We talked about the safety at school playground and how he could help.

She has RIGHT not to take the polygraph test

I believe most cops are good cops. However, when an innocent person was alleged and become a suspect in their investigation, it will be another story. When you become their suspect, the cops will not trust you. No matter what you tell them, they won't believe you. All statements you gave them only good for them to find something to frame you.

From our encountering, my wife was very cooperative and gave statement to the best of her knowledge. She was asked to do the polygraph test, in which she agreed to take at first as she knew she would pass the test. However, after seeking legal advice, her lawyer advised her not to take test as the polygraph cannot be used in court and it won't help her case even she passed the test. In additional to that, if she is too nervous, there is a possibility that she will fail the test even if she is innocent.  She has RIGHT not to take the test.

When she turned down the polygraph, the cop was angry and accused her not cooperating with police. The cop refused to talk to any witness who could provide useful information. He said unless she takes the polygraph, he will stop investigation and put her as suspect in the case for 5 years. She thought she has her right, now "she is a suspect" will show up in her police background check in the next 5 years. Yes, she will have trouble doing any volunteer work in our son's activity.

We just don't know how to fight. Or I should say we can't afford a lawyer to fight for her. Life is beautiful, but sometimes it could be just unfair.

Complaint Target

Hi Target,

I purchased a kid's luggage (item #181259027854) for a up coming birthday gift 3 weeks ago. We haven't used nor opened the luggage. We noticed that the luggage is on sale (for $7 less) this week.

We went to the store with our receipt as well as having shopping trip. The customer service told us they can't match the price anymore as it has passed the 2 weeks period. When asked if I can return the luggage, she said yes if it is still in 90 days period AND it is an unopened item. In this case, I can return the luggage, then buy a same luggage at the reduced price today.

However, it will take me 20 minutes to go home to get the luggage, I asked if I can buy a new luggage (new receipt), then return it with the old receipt. The rep told me that nothing prevent me from doing that.  She admitted the policy is confusing and even suggested me to fill out the feedback form. I filled out the form ON THE SPOT.

15 minutes later, after I made the purchase, I went back to the Customer Service, I honestly told her I just purchased another luggage. I told her that now I have 2 unopened identical luggage (one with me and one at home), and I would like to return one of them. Now, I have 2 receipts, one 5 minute old receipt , one 3 week old receipt, and I would like a refund on the 3 week old receipt.

She refused my refund on the old receipt. I politely protested. The 2nd rep was involved. I was still refused a refund. When asked if I just showed up with one luggage and one 3 week old receipt, would she allow the refund, she answered yes. She thanked me for being honest, but if I didn't tell her, that would made me dishonest. The whole conversation made me felt like I was somebody who was exploiting looped hole of the process. I felt embarrassed as our conversation was also heard by other customers waiting in the long line. I didn't have much choice at the time. I politely asked to return the luggage with the new receipt and immediately walked out the store.

Now, here is my question for your store. When I was at the customer service counter, I had 2 unopened luggage (one with me and one at home), one 5 minute old receipt, and one 3 week old receipt.  You refused to refund me when I was returning one of the luggage with my 3 week old receipt. The item was never used nor opened. The receipt is 3 week old. Which return policy did I break ?  You set the refund policy at 90 days, but you didn't respect your own policy!

Yes. You are new comer in Canada. You are welcome here. You may have saved $7, but you've disappointed me!!!   Unless my complaint is heard, I will never shop in the Target again.

The Target we visited was Target @ Hazeldean/Eagleson in Kanata, ON, Canada.  I was at the store on Oct 13 around 3:30pm.

Comment on the K6 survey

Many parents still did not know who our manager was when we had breakfast together after practice on the last weekends. Our manager never shows up.  No fundraising, no directions. Our manager may be doing something behind the scene, but we are dealing with the head coach all the times. Our head coach handed out the jerseys. Our head coach collected the checks. Our head coach told us when and where to take group photos. Our head coach sent out tournament details. Our head coach head coach collected our jerseys, etc.

I wish our head coach would speak more to the players in dressing room. For example, tell them what they did good after a practice or after a game. I like the coach handing out the "hard-working hat" to the player. It would be even better if the coach could describe the reason the player get his/her "hard-working hat" that day.

Re: Do u use whats apps?

Auntie,

No, I don't have whats app. Don't need a smart phone now, so don't own one yet.

I have access to phone, computer and gadgets at home/office. I don't use phone while driving to office. My life is relatively simple on the weekdays where I spend my time either at home or in the office, plus occasionally bringing Jacob out to library or swimming.  On the weekends, we spend most of our time in church, hockey rinks, ski hill or in the park. (Note: Yes, I do have a Nokia cell phone for emergency or when I need it.   )

I am still proud of being old school on this end. I use iPod and tablets at home. However, when stepping out of my home, I don't see the need of using the internet. When I go out, that means "I am disconnected or I am not available" so that I could focus on things I want to do. I enjoy time watching Jacob play hockey. I enjoy time having lunch with my family or friends. I enjoy time worshipping to God. I always plan ahead, not plan as you go.

In restaurant(in Canada), I often see many young people holding their smart phones most of the time while having dinner. I sometimes see kids watching DVD or playing DS2 while their parents having meal. I hardly see them exchanging words. They've forgotten there are actually real human sitting in front of them. They've forgotten the value of having dinner together. The world of social has changed. But, I just don't need to follow it.

Love,
Kian

Superstore feedback

Hi,

I went to Superstore in Kanata around 5:30pm today (Mar 17, 2013). I tried to pick up a few bags of 2% milk for my wife's home daycare as well as a few items. I am surprised to see Superstore is running out most kinds of 4 liter Nelson regular milk. I am looking for a regular 4 liter milk that costs about $4 each. The only 2% and 1% left were the expensive $7 4-liter bag. I asked the staff working there, they confirmed they are running out the milk.

So, I have to make another trip to the new Wal-Mart (5 minutes away) to get the milk.

I have been buying grocery from this Superstore since Day 1. Our family has made it our family grocery store.  But, today you disappointed me that I can't even get a basic item my family need.

By the way, I am still a loyal Superstore customer. Just want to feedback to you my experience.

Also, in case you don't know, Walmart has cheaper Nelson 2% 4-liter milk. They are selling it at $3.97.

Cheers,
Kian

Review on Kanata Noodle House

Not a question. The food in this restaurant is really  good. One of the best in Ottawa. We love the noodle soup and the pad thai that we came to this restaurant twice in less than a week.

However, the service was slow and full of errors. It is your responsibility to watch out.

This evening, we order a large noodle soup and a pad thai. About 10 minutes into our meal, we doubted the noodle soup was not the size we've ordered. (At least not the size we've had before.)   When asked, we were confirmed it was medium. Then the manager went to double checked our order, it was Large that we ordered. He waived us from the cashier table (about 10 feet away) that we ordered large but were given medium. He corrected the bill from the cashier table. No apology nor explanation. When paying the bill, another waiter gave us a bill-tray containing 2 bills, one wrong bill and another correct bill. The waiter had me to pay the correct bill. Had I not noticed the error, I will be paying large while eating medium. The waiter knew the error but acted like no error had happened.

Last Sunday (16/3/13), we happened to sit next to the cashier, and observed all the food mixed up among the waiters and 3 pickup customers. For some reasons, the food for customer A were given out to customer B and customer C. When they figured that out, that was a few minutes later, one of the waiters ran outside to look for customer B and customer C. A few minutes after the waiter returned, customer B returned with the food. They passed that returned food to customer A. Then, about another 5 minutes later, customer C returned. The waiter passed the returned food to customer A.  So, now customers A had the returned foods from customer B and customer C.  I believe customer B and customer C are good guys, but I don't think it is good to pass the food to customer A given that the food was already outside the restaurant for a good 5-10 minutes.  OK. Just to be fair. This was only my side of observation from my table. It may not be accurate on what was really happened, but it was a real chaos for sure.

Again, the food was great. Just watched out what you order, and check the food before you eat and check the bill carefully before you pay.

Complements to Lowes

Hi,

Just to let you know that we had a very pleasant evening while shopping at Lowes tonight.  (From 8 to 9pm Jan 22).

Daniel helped us with the storm door, then a gentleman helped me with the kitchen outlet.

After that, while we were looking for a replacement light bulb for our oven, a gentleman just walked in from outside offered help, he couldn't find it, but paged somebody from appliance. A rep from electrical also joined to help. Then, I was looking for toilet seat, the gentleman at the back near plumbing helped me to locate the toilet seat, and explained the choice that most probably match my existing one.

We've got all the help and advise we needed. This was a great shopping experience, and we felt like we were customers. My wife kept saying she only wants Lowes to be her hardware store in the future.

Thank you, Lowes.

Holiday Inn review

Best location in Markham, close to hwy 404. Free parking, plenty of parking lots.

Front desk staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. I was looking for water fountain to refill my water bottle. The gentleman at the front desk helped me to refill my bottle from the fountain at his office. The front desk staff greeted us and made us felt like home every time we passed by the front desk.

We used the swimming pool twice during our 4 day stay. The pool was not supervised as noted. We brought life jacket and water gun for our 5 year old. We loved the pool. The lighting was a bit dim in the evening. The lighting was ok in the morning, thanks to the daylight from the windows.

The WiFi internet was free, but it was slow. I only checked emails and used Google Maps to check for directions, it took a while for web pages to load. It was like 10x slower compared to our stay in the Quality Inn in Mississauga after our stay in Holiday Inn.

The house keeping is a bit late everyday. Our room was not serviced when we returned after 3pm. We didn't have much choice but requested to skip the service so that we could rest in our room on our last night.

On our last day, the house keeping lady knocked our door waking us up at 8:25am to check when we are leaving. I opened the door with my PJ and my eyes half closed. I guess she wanted to arrange her schedule to service the room.

In general, we enjoyed our stay in this hotel.

Miracle child

Dear sister,

Thank you for the sharing. We will pray for you. Be strong in faith! God is good, all the time.

Doreen and I went thru in fertility treatment years back. IUI was one of the option, but the doctor didn't suggest that due to low success rate with our condition. Instead, she recommended IVF with additional procedure to insert the sperm into the egg (I forgot what that procedure is called...).

Anyway, at the time, I was laid off and was unemployed for a while. We had not condition to consider IVF. We were disappointed and were really down at some point. 2 years later, I remembered my family doctor asked me if we still want to persuade the fertility clinic option, I politely told her that I trust in God and I am waiting for His miracle. But God had his mercy on us. A few weeks later, Doreen found out she was pregnant.

9 months later, Doreen and I went to hospital to give birth to Jacob on the morning of our 5th anniversary. We looked at each other, amazed on the miracle God had done in our family. God picked our anniversary to remind us of his Grace and that He remembers us.

Note: We always trust God will prepare a child for us. We just didn't know if it is our own child or an adopted child. We had the option open, research on adopting process, etc.
